How to add virtual try-on to a Shopify store

You can add virtual try-on to a Shopify store without touching theme code. With Mira it takes a few minutes, and you can test everything in the theme preview before shoppers see it. Here is the short version. The full setup guide has every screen.

Before you start

  • An Online Store 2.0 theme, such as Dawn. Older themes can use the app embed but not the product block.
  • Products with clear images. Try-on works from your product photos, so better images give better results.

The steps

  1. Install Mira. The Shopify App Store listing is coming soon. Until then, email hello@meritt.dev and we will install it with you. It opens inside your Shopify admin with a setup checklist.
  2. Import your catalogue. Mira reads your products in the background. Later changes in Shopify reach Mira automatically.
  3. Pick collections. Choose where shoppers can use try-on.
  4. Review eligibility. Mira marks each product eligible or not, and tells you why when it is not.
  5. Turn on the app embed. In the theme editor, switch on Mira in App embeds, paste the publishable key from the checklist, and add the Mira: Try it on block next to Add to cart.
  6. Set appearance and language. Display name, logo, greeting, font and default language, in English or Arabic.
  7. Approve photo consent. Shoppers see the notice before their first photo.
  8. Test and go live. Try a product in the theme preview, ask the stylist a question, then publish.

What Mira can see

Mira asks Shopify for read access only: products and inventory to import your catalogue, orders to report sales from items added through Mira, and themes to check the app embed is on. It cannot change your products, prices, orders or customers.

What it costs

Every Shopify store starts with a 14-day free trial, with up to 100 try-on images. Paid plans start at $29 a month, billed through your Shopify bill, with no setup fee and no commission. The pricing page has every plan.

If you change your mind

Uninstall Mira from your Shopify admin. It stops on your store straight away, the app embed and block leave your theme with it, and your store data is erased 48 hours later.
